Artist Ruth Lorene McKinney Smith (1914-1979) was the wife of Waco Attorney Carlton Jackson Smith (1902-1981). She created sixteen oil paintings telling the history of Waco, Texas. These are on permanent display in the rotunda in the McLennan County Courthouse.
