My name is Jackie Bowen. I was the bookkeeper for this store and the Bosque at Hwy.6 store. My husband Steve Bowen also worked at this store. I worked there for 10 years and my husband for 12 years. The business is owned by Craig Baggett. This building is unique as it has changed very little since it first opened at this location. This picture is fairly recent as I recognize one of the people in this photo as one of the employees. I can also tell this photo was taken in the fall or early winter as the big white bags, called braillers, in front of the yellow forklift contain pecans. The area around this building has been under new construction so the surrounding area looks quite different now and is still in the process of construction. The chain-link fence is no longer there. It has been replaced by a beautiful new enclosure where plants are on display. This photo is the back side of the building on Bridge street which leads to the historic suspension bridge which is the first bridge built over the Brazos River. The front of the building faces Elm St. It is actually called Elm Avenue but all of us here in Waco know it as Elm Street. The side of the building faces Trice st. There are now loft apartments across this street and there is a hotel being built behind Empire Seed across from Bridge St. You may ask Craig to contact me if you have any questions about this post. Just give him your name and phone number and I can make arrangements to meet you at this location. Thank you for taking the time to read my comments about this business!

Thank you so much for your informative comment! As a dairyman’s son, this store was a big part of my “growing up years”. ♥️
